Apart from being the venue of some of the craziest parties, Koh Phangan also offers its tourists with Thailand’s best waterfalls which would take their breath away. In case you do not know about these waterfalls but you want to visit them, here is a list for you.

5 beautiful Waterfalls in Koh Phangan

 

1. Phaeng Waterfall

No other waterfall is as great as Phaeng Waterfall in Koh Phangan and it is situated right in the center of the island. It is located inside the Thansadej National Park. It is formed of two individual waterfalls, the Phaeg Yai, which is a big waterfall and the Phaeng Noi Waterfall which is the smaller one. The whole area is complemented with plenty of wildlife, lush green vegetation, and natural beauty. The waterfall’s base has a large pool where tourists can cool off when they are done with their hike. 

From the pool area, tourists can even hike up to the exquisite Dom Sila viewpoint. In case you still have some energy left, you can hike further and you would reach the island’s highest mountain peak, Khao Ra’s top. It is around 630 meters above the sea level and offers spectacular scenery of the entire island as well as the neighboring islands. This island has well-earned its spot on the list of best waterfalls in Koh Phangan.

1. Although you need to enter into a National Park but you don’t have to pay
2. Smoke and alcohols are prohibited in the park.
3. Don’t forget to wear your hiking shoes because this place is definitely not for flip-flops!
4. There is a camping area called Baan Domsila where you can stay at night also.
5. The waterfall timing is 8 am to 4 pm everyday. However, we recommend you to visit before noon.

2. Than Sadet Waterfall

The Thai Royal Family had visited this waterfall back in 1998 where the rock inscription left by King Rama V over there, remains till this date. This waterfall is regarded as Thailand’s most scenic waterfall. Water which is collected from here is used for carrying out numerous holy Royal Ceremonies.

The waterfall consists of freshwater pools where people can take a bath and huge granite boulders. It has a cascading falls (Thong Nang, Saampon and Deang) which is about 3 kilometers long, if you have a high spirit for hiking then you should enjoy all three of them. Visitors can easily spend half a day there to enjoy the heavy vegetation growth, thanks to the weather in Koh Phangan. With improved accessibility, you can easily reach there from the Haad Than Sadet beach. 

Safety Tips and Information

1. The best time to visit this waterfall is during monsoon season or just after a heavy rain.
2. Beware of the slippery surface and sharp edges.
3. If the water streams are fast flowing then don’t try to get into the water because its currents are very strong and drag you across the rocks.
4. Make sure to carry lots of water bottles along with you as you have to hike and most of the waterfalls are within dense forest, there water gets too hot.

3. Sramanora Waterfall

Unlike its counterparts, tourists can also visit this waterfall at night. It provides its viewers with a romantic and breathtaking sight when the crystal-clear water glistens under the moonlight. From the car parking area, the waterfall is a 500-meter walk which goes through a beautiful jungle. 

There are  two different pools there, the small one is more secluded which people can find after they cross the river & climb the hill. The bigger pool would fall to the right side of the waterfall. The Sramanora Waterfall even has a restaurant which outlooks the valley. To get to this place, visitors have to walk from the North of Baan Tai and on the sleek road which is opposite to the Yam’s Kitchen.

Safety Tips and Information

1. As may have to climb hill to visit this place then do get your hiking shoes.
2. You can visit here at night also.

4. Paradise Waterfall

The Paradise waterfall is known for the fun it offers. You would have to enter the waterfall through a restaurant which opens straight to a large pool. The pool has ropes swinging from the tree branches overhead which turns the place into a jungle-gym in real-life. 

You can even embark on the 45-minute trek to the central waterfall. There is also an impressive cascade which has an attached swimming pool. To get to this place, you would have to head for the Chaloklum village. From there you would have to take a right turn from the Kika Splace Restaurant.  

Safety Tips and Information

1. Best time to visit here is January and February but no issue if you come here in any other time.
2. Don’t forget to bring your backup clothes because its water will definitely make you swim.
3. Beware of where you keep your steps as rock or trails near the water are slippery.

5. Wang Sai Waterfall

This waterfall comes with a landscape version and a natural version. Tourists can reach this place by taking a small trek around 150 meters walk through the jungle. They can also take a bath in the artificial pool near the waterfall. 

It also features a leisure center which offers various activities to the people including a zip line. This waterfall is distinctive from others as the soil there has sand in it which makes the rock areas free of mosses. The entire environment is pleasant and soothing with big and small trees around it.

1. Entry fees is free
2. Fees for shower and toilet, 20 Bhat and 10 Bhat respectively.
3. Timing for this waterfall is 9:30 am to 6 pm

6. Than Prawet Waterfall

Favorite among nature lovers and backpackers, the path to this waterfall is filled with quite some adventure. This waterfall is the best for people who do not want to encounter a crowd of people. After the great hike, tourists can chill at the pristine location while admiring the scenery. It is not a huge waterfall but it offers a pleasing and soothing effect to the sore eyes. 

Safety Tips and Information

1. The location Than Prawet Waterfall is in the North East and is nearby to Thong Nai Pan.
2. There are two ways of reaching this place, first, you can access it from Thong Nai Pan Noi beach or second you can get here from the main road. It is not well signed post.
